County defers highway budget amendment and opioid-abatement spending to August agenda

TAZEWELL, Tenn. — At the July 15 Claiborne County Commission meeting, two new-business items were removed from consideration for the evening and scheduled for the August agenda.
Commissioner David Mundy moved to approve Res. 2024-082, a budget amendment for the Highway Department (Fund 131); Commissioner Quintin Rogers seconded. During discussion, Commissioner Mundy withdrew the motion and asked that the item be placed on the August agenda because the budget had not been finalized. A separate new-business item, Res. 2024-083 proposing use of opioid-abatement funds, was likewise deferred to the August agenda for the same reason.
No final votes were recorded on either Res. 2024-082 or Res. 2024-083 during the July 15 meeting.
