Dickson County Commission unanimously approves $0.50 pay bump for part-time staff, Comcast lease, tax-relief supplement and $100,000 match for Help Center endow

At its Sept. 18 meeting the Dickson County Commission unanimously approved five resolutions including a $0.50/hour raise for non-elected part-time employees, a 36-month Comcast phone-equipment lease for the Health Department, a county supplemental property-tax relief program under Tennessee law, and a $100,000 general-fund match to seed an endowment for the Dickson County Help Center.
The Dickson County Commission met Sept. 18, 2023, in the Buford L. (Booty) Reed, Jr. County Commission Chamber and unanimously approved five resolutions that will affect employee pay, county contracting and local nonprofit funding.
Commissioner Ray Ledger moved Resolution 09-2023-01 to increase compensation for non-elected part-time county employees by $0.50 per hour; Commissioner Randy Simpkins seconded. The motion passed by a unanimous aye voice vote.
The commission next authorized Resolution 09-2023-02, approving a lease contract with Comcast Cable Communications Management, LLC for phone equipment and related services for the Health Department. The proposed lease term is 36 months with payments described in the contract as $199 per location and $15 per seat. Commissioner Cindi Gray moved the authorization, Commissioner Dwight McIllwain seconded, and the measure passed unanimously.
By Resolution 09-2023-03 the commission accepted and approved the County Trustee’s Report of Errors and Double Assessments. Commissioner Mike Petty moved the resolution; Commissioner Jody Britt seconded. The resolution passed by unanimous aye voice vote.
Resolution 09-2023-04 establishes a county supplemental program to the State of Tennessee’s Property Tax Relief Program, cited in the minutes as Title 67, Chapter 5, Part 7 of the Tennessee Code Annotated. Commissioner Becky Spicer moved the resolution, Commissioner Carl Buckner seconded, and the commission approved it unanimously.
Finally, Resolution 09-2023-05 authorizes a budget amendment appropriating $100,000 from the County’s General Fund (Fund 101) to be used as matching funds for an endowment to be established by the Dickson County Help Center, Inc. Commissioner Rusty Grove moved the resolution and Commissioner Dwight McIllwain seconded; the motion passed by unanimous aye voice vote.
County Clerk Luanne Greer called roll earlier in the meeting; the minutes list Randy Simpkins, Ray Ledger, Dwight McIllwain, James C. Dawson, Becky Spicer, Carl Buckner, Jody Britt, Mike Petty, Danny Williams, Rusty Grove and Cindi Gray as present and Stacey Batey as absent. The meeting record notes approval of the Aug. 21, 2023 minutes and a motion approving Financial Reports—All School Funds earlier in the session.
Other business included notice that on Oct. 16, 2023 at 6:00 P.M. there will be discussions about the upcoming Schools Building Program. A slate of notaries was presented and approved. The meeting adjourned at 7:50 P.M.
