Dickson County Commission unanimously approves Old Jailer’s House conveyance, four-way stop and two rezonings

The Dickson County Commission met Aug. 21 in Charlotte and approved several unanimous measures, including accepting conveyance of the Old Jailer’s House from the City of Charlotte, installing a four‑way stop at Corlew Drive and Lakeview Drive, and rezoning two five‑acre parcels from agricultural to commercial.
Resolution 08‑2023‑01 authorizes the County Mayor to accept conveyance of the property known as the Old Jailer’s House, a parcel adjacent to Court Square recorded at Deed Volume 936, Pages 826–828. Commissioner Randy Simpkins moved the measure; Commissioner Mike Petty seconded. The resolution states the county intends to make basic repairs and improvements for a future public use; the commission approved it by unanimous voice vote.
Under Resolution 08‑2023‑02, the commission authorized establishing and installing a four‑way stop at the intersection of Corlew Drive and Lakeview Drive. Commissioner Danny Williams moved the measure; Commissioner Jody Britt seconded, and the measure passed by unanimous voice vote.
The commission also approved two rezoning measures. Resolution 08‑2023‑03 rezoned Parcel 061.00 of Tax Map 145 (five acres, 7th District) from A‑1 (Agricultural) to C‑2 (Commercial); Resolution 08‑2023‑04 rezoned Parcel 021.06 of Tax Map 135 (five acres) from A‑1 to C‑2. Both measures passed by unanimous voice vote.
In other formal business, the commission approved the appointment of Gary Petty to the county 911 Board on a motion by Commissioner Danny Williams with a second from Commissioner Carl Buckner. The body also approved a list of submitted notaries and accepted the July 17, 2023 minutes earlier in the meeting, all by unanimous voice votes.
The commission received annual reports from county fee offices for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023, as required by Tennessee Code Annotated Section 67‑5‑1902. Chairman County Mayor Bob Rial announced the next regular meeting for Sept. 18, 2023. The meeting adjourned at 7:29 P.M.
