Dickson County Commission adopts 2023-24 appropriations and sets property tax rate at $2.35

Resolution 06-2023-01 would make appropriations for the county's various funds, departments, institutions, offices and agencies for the year beginning July 1, 2023, and ending June 30, 2024. "Motion by Commissioner Mike Petty, second by Commissioner Becky Spicer to approve making appropriations for various funds, departments, institutions, offices and agencies of Dickson County, Tennessee, for the year beginning July 1, 2023 and ending June 30, 2024 passed by a unanimous aye voice vote," according to the minutes.
Resolution 06-2023-02 fixed the county's combined property tax rate at $2.35 per $100 of assessed value, effective July 1, 2023. The resolution lists the fund-by-fund breakdown as: General $1.28; Highway/Public Works $0.08; General Purpose School $0.72; and General Debt Service $0.27. "Motion by Commissioner Dwight McIllwain, second by Commissioner Ray Ledger to approve the Tax Levy in Dickson County, Tennessee for the year beginning July 1, 2023 at $2.35 passed by a unanimous aye voice vote," the minutes state.
The commission also approved Resolution 06-2023-03, which makes appropriations to nonprofit charitable organizations in Dickson County for the same fiscal year. "Motion by Commissioner Randy Simpkins, second by Commissioner Carl Buckner to approve the appropriations to Nonprofit Charitable Organizations of Dickson County, Tennessee for the year beginning July 1, 2023 and ending June 30, 2024 passed by a unanimous aye voice vote," the minutes record.
All three resolutions were recorded as passing by unanimous aye voice votes. The commission then moved, seconded and unanimously approved adjournment. The minutes were signed by County Clerk Luanne Greer and County Mayor Bob Rial.
