Benton County Commission approves multiple budget allocations, appointments and equipment purchases

On Aug. 20 the Benton County Commission approved a package of resolutions including funding allocations for senior services, library and sheriff accounts, jail HVAC and laundry equipment, and the appointment of Sara Kilgore to the Library Board (Resolution 0820-06 passed 15–1).
The Benton County Commission approved a series of resolutions and budget adjustments at its Aug. 20 regular meeting, moving through appointments, appropriations and equipment purchases on mostly unanimous or voice votes.
Commissioners approved Resolution 0820-06 appointing Sara Kilgore to the Benton County Library Board for a three-year term; the roll-call vote was recorded as 15 ayes and 1 nay. The commission combined and approved Resolutions 0820-07 through 0820-11 (small budget additions and allocations) and approved a sequence of further appropriations, including:
- $1,100 to the Senior Citizens budget (0820-07) - $4,880.95 to the Library budget (0820-08) - $27,315.50 and $7,311.26 to Sheriff’s budget lines (0820-09, 0820-10) - $400 to the Animal Shelter budget (0820-11) - $400 appropriated from the General Sessions Judge Data Processing Reserve to the General Sessions Judge budget (0820-12) - $5,600 from the Unassigned Fund Balance within Airport Fund 189 for a 5% grant match (0820-13) - $12,748.06 from the Unassigned Fund Balance within the County General Fund to pay The Barrett Group invoice (0820-14) - $3,163.90 from Drug Court Fee Reserve for the annual payment to the State of Tennessee (0820-15) - $1,149 for Agricultural Extension Service salary supplements (0820-16) - $7,400 from Litigation Tax Reserve for a new jail HVAC unit (0820-17) - $2,798.46 from Litigation Tax Reserve to purchase three industrial-grade washing machines for the jail (0820-18)
All listed resolutions were approved by motions and roll-call or voice votes as recorded during the meeting. The commission also approved the Benton County Girls Softball lease for Aug. 20, 2018–Aug. 20, 2019 and the Tennessee Rehabilitation Center quarterly report.
Several routine items were handled on consent or combined votes; the meeting minutes will include copies of related contracts and documentation. The Barrett Group item referencing unclaimed balances was advanced under Tennessee Code Annotated §66-29-121, as noted in the meeting agenda.
The commission approved August 2018 notaries and adjourned.
