Benton County to use $47,500 state grant to buy virtual welding trainer for Career Tech Center

The grant was discussed during the Chamber update portion of the county commission meeting; commissioners were told the welding trainer is among the leading systems available for vocational welding instruction and will support workforce training in the county. The chamber director also raised concerns about the Asian Carp issue as a threat to tourism and commercial fishing in the region.
No formal vote was required for the grant information; a copy of the contract for the trainer will be filed with the minutes at the County Clerk’s Office. Commissioners did not specify the Board of Education’s exact additional contribution in the meeting record.
