Ronnie Hopper elected to fill Benton County 6th District seat

The nomination and roll-call vote followed a brief nomination period in which Commissioners Darryl Hicks and Bill Kee nominated Hopper and Scott Nossem, respectively.
The vote concluded with Hopper receiving 10 votes, Nossem receiving 3 votes and Gary Materson receiving no votes. Commissioner Jimmy Wiseman moved to cease nominations; on a voice vote commissioners approved closing nominations and the commission then conducted the roll-call election. The commission called a five-minute recess immediately afterward so Hopper could be sworn in.
The new commissioner appeared on the roll call after the recess. The meeting continued with the approved agenda and routine business following the swearing-in.
The commission did not record debate on policy implications of the appointment at the meeting; the process used was nomination from the floor and a recorded roll-call vote. The meeting record lists Dayna Ferguson as absent for the session.
