Benton County amends litter-grant plan to make sheriff administrator, approves multiple budget moves

The Benton County Commission on Feb. 20 amended its TDOT litter-and-trash grant application to designate the sheriff as grant administrator, approved several small budget and transfer resolutions and confirmed notary appointments for February 2018.
The Benton County Commission on Feb. 20 approved an amendment to a planned litter-and-trash grant application and enacted a string of budget and personnel housekeeping measures.
Commissioner Brett Rogers moved to approve Resolution 0220-01, an application to the Tennessee Department of Transportation for litter and trash collection funds. Commissioner Ward Plant then moved to amend the resolution to "make the Sheriff administrator over the litter grant program," and the commission adopted the amendment on a 14–1 roll call. The full resolution was then approved as amended by roll call.
The group also combined and approved Resolutions 0220-03 through 0220-10 by voice vote. Those items, listed on the meeting agenda, budgeted and transferred small amounts across departments, including $158.45 to the library budget; $13,067.00 to schools; $13,398.69 to the sheriff’s budget; $13,988.00 to the highway department; $7,574.30 in Rural Development grant funds to the Capital Projects Fund 171; $800.00 in ROI fees to the County Coroner/Investigator budget; and $80,913.09 in TDOT reimbursements to Fund 178 – Capital Outlay Note Budget. The commission combined and approved Resolutions 0220-11 and 0220-12 (payroll transfers within sheriff budgets) by voice vote as well.
Commissioner Norman Frazier moved and Commissioner Jimmy Wiseman seconded approval of Resolution 0220-13 to appropriate $1,903 from the Courtroom Security Reserve Account for replacement locks on the courtroom door; the roll call was unanimous. The commission also approved the list of February 2018 notaries and approved an A2H invoice in other business.
Jenna Cole Wilson of the Benton County Chamber of Commerce announced a Patsy Cline rededication ceremony scheduled for March 15, 2018, at 11 a.m., at the Patsy Cline site. County Clerk Wanda Malin asked the commission for assistance locating heavy-duty metal filing cabinets for the clerk’s back office.
