Commissioner Ward Plant was elected chairman of the Benton County Commissioners during the Sept. 16 meeting after nominations and a roll-call vote.
Commissioner Mary Powers nominated Plant, and other nominations were placed and withdrawn; a motion to cease nominations carried and a roll-call vote elected Ward Plant unanimously among those voting. For chairman pro-tem, Commissioner Ronnie Hopper nominated Darrell Hicks and Commissioner Miller nominated Rosanne Ward; the roll call produced 8 votes for Rosanne Ward, 7 for Darrell Hicks and two "pass" votes, resulting in Rosanne Ward’s election as pro-tem.
The leadership choices were entered into the minutes and the meeting proceeded to agenda business. The minutes show the formal nominations, seconds and recorded vote totals.
