Tazewell County planning commission approves Lawson RV Park E&S plan with conditions

On Oct. 10, 2024, the Tazewell County Planning Commission approved the Lawson family’s proposal for a small, non-permanent RV park in the Cedar Bluff area, voting 4-0 with three members absent.
Kenneth Dunford Jr., Director of County Engineering, reviewed the Lawson RV Park erosion and sediment (E&S) plan and recommended the commission accept the proposal if the applicants pay a $60 permit fee, post a $3,207.94 bond and provide proof of any applicable permits. Dunford also noted the park is not intended for permanent RV parking; occupants must bring their own RVs.
Member Kyle Cruey moved to approve the E&S plan under the conditions Dunford outlined; Vice-Chairman Robert “Bob” Moss seconded and the motion carried on a 4-0 vote. Chairperson Ann Robinson presided over the vote. Members Jason Herndon, Anthony Ramella and Lance Wimmer were recorded as absent.
The approval authorizes the Lawson family to proceed toward construction of concrete pads and roadway grading described in the submitted plan, subject to the bond, fee and permit verification. The commission’s staff note indicates the permit-change was reflected on the Tazewell County website following the meeting.
The commission’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Nov. 14, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at Tazewell Council Chambers.
