Summary

The Tazewell County Planning Commission voted 7–0 on Nov. 14 to approve a subdivision plat for property owned by Larry Irick, contingent on two engineering variances for sewer/water connections and for access to a state- or county-maintained road. Vice-Chairman Robert “Bob” Moss moved the approval; Member Jason Herndon seconded.
Kenneth Dunford Jr., director of county engineering, told the commission the Irick parcel lacks water and sewer service and does not have access to a state or county-maintained road, and recommended approval with the two variances. Attorney Alan McGraw spoke on behalf of the subdivision application.
The commission’s approval records the variances as conditions of the plat, preserving the subdivision’s approval while leaving compliance with utility and access requirements to subsequent administrative processes. The motion passed unanimously.
The decision completes the planning commission’s review of the Irick plat; the record does not specify the timeline or agency steps for implementing the variances. The commission’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Dec. 12, 2024.
