The Tazewell County Planning Commission voted unanimously July 10 to ratify two subdivision approvals that were carried over after a June 12 meeting failed to reach a quorum. The commission approved the Helton subdivision on Perkins Hollow Road and an Industrial Park subdivision near Bluefield.
Director of County Engineering Kenneth Dunford said staff polled commissioners by email after the June 12 meeting and received four yays, which allowed him to sign the items administratively; the commission then voted 5 to 0 (Member Kyle Cruey absent) to ratify those actions during the July 10 meeting. The motion to ratify was made by Vice‑Chairman Jason Herndon and seconded by Member Anthony Ramella.
The approvals were recorded in the meeting minutes; no residents spoke on the items during the July 10 meeting. The actions were entered into the record for the Planning Commission and will proceed according to the county’s subdivision review process.
