Bland County Board approves school requisition, library transfers, PSAP grant and adopts Emergency Operations Plan

The Bland County Board of Supervisors approved a range of budget and administrative items at its Oct. 24, 2023 regular meeting.
On a unanimous roll‑call vote the board approved the consent agenda, which included payroll for Sept. 29 and Oct. 16, vendor bills for August, September and October, departmental reports, and appropriation of the Bland County School Board’s November 2023 requisition for $1,112,984.67.
The board approved a transfer of a 2016 Ford Explorer from the public library to the Sheriff’s Office and a transfer and appropriation of $8,500 from the Sheriff’s Office budget to the FY24 Library budget. Separately, the board approved transferring and appropriating $50,000 from the Library Board of Trustees Fund to the FY24 Library budget. All motions passed by unanimous roll call.
Other actions approved included publishing the county’s delinquent real estate and personal property tax list on the county website, and appropriating $22,500 for Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP) to support emergency dispatch services. The board also adopted an increase in the benevolent policy expense limit to $200.
The board adopted the Bland County Emergency Operations Plan after that item was added to the agenda earlier in the meeting. All votes recorded in the meeting minutes were unanimous.
