Bland County board approves payroll, vendor payments and $1.11 million school requisition on consent agenda

The Bland County Board of Supervisors approved a multi-item consent agenda Dec. 19 that included payroll, vendor payments and a school requisition totaling $1,112,984.67.
The consent agenda, moved by Supervisor Keith Costello and seconded by Supervisor Randy Johnson, included minutes from Nov. 9 and Nov. 28, 2023; payroll issued Nov. 30 ($132,226.48) and Dec. 15 ($123,275.70); vendor bills for September ($11,190.05), October ($90,096.62), November ($90,730.22) and December ($151,634.14); and reports from several county offices. The board also appropriated a Sept. 2023 Social Services local allotment of $15,770.42 and approved the Bland County School Board’s January 2024 requisition for $1,112,984.67. A roll-call vote recorded all yeas.
Separately, the board adopted trash adjustments for August through December 2023 totaling $4,233.73 on a motion by Supervisor Randy Johnson, seconded by Supervisor Patrick Groseclose; that vote was unanimous.
The motions were procedural approvals of previously submitted payroll and billing figures and a routine appropriation for the school system; no public comment was recorded on the consent items.
