CPMT approves FY22 vendor contract changes, adopts Family First materials and moves to closed session
Summary
On July 26 the CPMT accepted vendor contract edits for Newport News Behavioral Health and Kids In Focus, approved Family First and EBS/IV-E policy additions for local policy and forms, and voted to enter a closed session to discuss individual cases and funding.
The Tazewell County Community Policy and Management Team on July 26, 2021 approved FY22 contract changes for two vendors, adopted additions to local policy and forms to implement Family First and EBS/IV-E programs, and moved into a closed session to discuss individual cases and funding.
County Attorney Chase Collins reviewed and approved requested edits to the Newport News Behavioral Health vendor contract for fiscal year 2022; the team then voted to accept the changes on a motion by Melinda Smith, seconded by Ashley Keene. Kids In Focus similarly requested contract edits that were approved after a motion by Ashley Keene, seconded by Robin Boyd. Meeting minutes record both motions as passed unanimously.
The team also reviewed new Policy & Procedure documents and associated forms for the Family First Program and EBS/IV-E. After discussion, Melinda Smith moved to add the materials to the Local Policy & Procedure; Robin Boyd seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Late in the meeting Edwina Crawford moved that CPMT convene a closed session to discuss foster care, child protective services cases, Cumberland-related cases, Court Services, Tazewell County Schools cases and funding for services. The motion was seconded by Melinda Smith and carried. The CPMT then adopted a certification resolving that the closed meeting complied with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and cited Code of Virginia —2.2-3711 and —2.2-3712; the certification was recorded with a vote of AYES 7, NAYS 0, ABSENT 4 (minutes also note absences during meeting and vote).
The approved contract edits and policy additions were accepted as administrative actions to ensure continuity of services in FY22; the closed session was certified in accordance with state law. The meeting did not record additional public motions on budget transfers at that time.
