Tazewell County CPMT approves prior minutes, financial reports and fund encumbrances, then enters closed session

The Tazewell County Community Policy and Management Team (CPMT), chaired by Jeff Brintle, met Sept. 27, 2021, in the Training Room of the Tazewell County Department of Social Services and approved several routine governance items and fund actions.

Melinda Smith moved to approve the Aug. 23, 2021 CPMT minutes; Sheri Hale seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Robin Boyd moved to approve the August FY21 & FY22 financial report; Melinda Smith seconded and that motion also passed unanimously. The CPMT approved an encumbrance for WRAP funds after a motion from Sheri Hale, seconded by Lori Gates-Addison, and approved Safe & Stable funds on a motion from Sheri Hale seconded by Robin Boyd; both motions passed unanimously.

Jeff Brintle, identified in the minutes as Chair Person, called the meeting to order at 10:05 a.m. The published attendance list records five members present (Brintle; Melinda Smith; Sheri Hale; Robin Boyd; Lori Gates-Addison) and five members listed as absent (Patti Cettin; Cathy Catron; Ashley Keene; Arlene Matney; Tom Lester).

Later in the meeting, Robin Boyd moved that the CPMT convene a closed session to discuss specific cases related to foster care, CPS, Cumberland (agency reference in the minutes), Court Services and Tazewell County Schools and to consider funding for services in those cases; Lori Gates-Addison seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The CPMT adopted a certification resolution citing Code of Virginia §§2.2-3711 and 2.2-3712 that the closed meeting was convened in conformity with state law. The vote was recorded as AYES 5, NAYS 0, with five members absent from the meeting.
