CPMT members press for clearer attendance rules and better virtual meeting tools after short‑notice change

A Tazewell County CPMT member said a Vote Notification of Attendance letter raised concern she could be removed from the panel because she could not attend meetings in person while her husband was ill, and colleagues urged clearer arrangements and better virtual meeting tools at the Jan. 24, 2022 session.
Patti Cettin, representing TASK (Tasking Action for Special Kids), told members she was concerned she may "get kicked off" the CPMT because of an attendance issue stemming from her inability to be present in person. Jeff Brintle, the CPMT chair, responded that "as long as he is Chair, Patti will be invited to participate by telephone if she is unable to attend in person," according to the meeting minutes.
Members said short notice for changing meeting arrangements made participation difficult and suggested using Zoom or Google Meet rather than the telephone conference format the team used that day. Margo Trigg, the CSA Administrator, said she learned of a state directive at 2:00 p.m. the prior Friday, immediately emailed meeting notifications and scanned and sent meeting documents; she told members the work was completed by the end of the work day (4:30 p.m.). The minutes also record that the CSA Administrator’s computer does not have the capability to conduct or participate in virtual meetings.
No formal change to attendance policy was recorded in the public minutes; the chair’s assurance of telephone participation was given as an individual commitment while he serves as chair. The meeting proceeded to other agenda items, including a closed session and approvals of cases and funding.
The CPMT is scheduled to meet next on Feb. 28, 2022, at 10:00 a.m.
