CPMT reviews contingency plan, CQI dashboard and long‑range strategy to keep children at home

At the July 25, 2022 Tazewell County CPMT meeting, members reviewed the CSA Self‑Assessment Validation summary and agreed to use CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement) documentation to track demographic/utilization data across Tazewell, Buchanan and Russell counties.
Members agreed the CQI demographics data point (child count or percentage by race, gender and age) would be used and reviewed the dashboard packets for utilization management, finance and outcome measures. Dwayne Sturgill contributed observations on the CQI form; the CSA coordinator said only a small number of CQI forms were returned by the end of the meeting.
The CPMT also discussed developing a contingency and disaster recovery plan for local CSA policies and procedures. David Taylor said he has a draft template and would coordinate the CPMT contingency plan with the county‑level contingency planning process; he suggested alternate in‑person meeting locations (the county fairgrounds) and using Zoom if the department facility is inaccessible.
In reviewing the long‑range plan, members focused on four primary goals and a shared priority to expand prevention and in‑home services so more children can remain safely with their families. The minutes record concerns about increased behavioral and developmental issues among very young children (ages two to three) linked to prenatal or early life drug exposure and the challenges of engaging families who mistrust services or refuse offered programs.
Members noted staffing shortages across service providers and community programs, and the group unanimously left the long‑range plan unchanged during this annual review. The CPMT asked members to continue populating CQI forms and to incorporate contingency planning ideas into the draft template for future review.
