Board approves property sale, accepts court technology funds, and authorizes redistricting agreement; DUI reimbursement ordinance advertised for hearing

The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors approved several administrative and fiscal actions at its Nov. 9 meeting.
Real property sale: Administrator Tracy M. Gee reported a survey revealed 15 fewer acres on a county parcel near the animal shelter (136 acres rather than 151). Mr. Malcolm Bailey requested to purchase the property at $3,311.26 per acre; the Board approved the sale for a total of $450,331.26. The motion was made by Supervisor Frank Bacon and seconded by Supervisor Alvester Edmonds, and passed unanimously.
Court technology funds: The Board accepted and appropriated $110,726 in Technology Trust Funds awarded by the Compensation Board for the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office to support backscanning, secure remote access, redaction, and maintenance. Supervisor Frank Bacon moved to accept the funds; the motion passed unanimously.
Redistricting boundary agreement: County Attorney Frank Rennie described an agreement with Charlotte County to correct previously recorded inaccurate property lines affecting 54 parcels. The proposed process includes sending explanatory letters to property owners; estimated recording costs are $400 per parcel and the agreement proposes splitting that cost equally between the two counties. The Board authorized the Chairman to sign the agreement.
DUI reimbursement ordinance: County Attorney Rennie also presented a proposed County Code Section 73‑4 to allow the county to seek reimbursement of costs incurred by law enforcement and emergency responders for DUI/impaired driving incidents and certain arrest warrants/summonses. The Board voted to advertise the proposed ordinance for public hearing.
Courthouse facility work: Administrator Gee noted two comparable bids (ABM and Kenbridge Construction) for the District Court bathroom project at about $95,000 and said the Finance Committee recommended rebidding a slate roofing project for comparative costs. The Board discussed ARPA as a possible funding source for the bathroom project.
