Lunenburg County to use $10,000 in solar funds to sponsor Holiday Lake 4‑H cabin

Preston Willson, president and CEO of Holiday Lake 4‑H Educational Center, asked the Board for a $10,000 contribution to create an endowed fund for upkeep of the camp’s original buildings and to adopt one of the cabins.
Administrator Tracy M. Gee said the organization offered a payment plan allowing localities to pay $2,000 per year over five years. Supervisor T. Wayne Hoover asked that the county use available solar funds immediately rather than wait for the regular budget process. The Board approved using $10,000 in solar funds to support upkeep of the original buildings and to sponsor a cabin; the motion passed unanimously.
The item will be reflected in the county’s budgeting and accounting processes, and staff indicated the request will also be reviewed during the upcoming budgeting cycle.
