Supervisors authorize mutual aid, VDH agreement and schedule public hearing for Riverstreet lease
Summary
The board authorized the county administrator to sign a mutual aid agreement with Charlotte County and the annual Virginia Department of Health agreement, and agreed to hold a public hearing on Riverstreet Communication’s proposed lease at the Owl Creek Solid Waste Center.
During its Jan. 11 meeting the Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors authorized the County Administrator to sign a mutual aid agreement for emergency services with Charlotte County and separately authorized signing the annual agreement with the Virginia Department of Health.
Assistant County Attorney Drew DiStanislao also asked the board whether to hold a public hearing on a lease request from Riverstreet Communication of Virginia to use 1,000 square feet of county property at the Owl Creek Solid Waste Center for storage and equipment while building a fiber network; the board voted to schedule a public hearing. Administrator Gee noted the county must pay certain invoices up front for grant reimbursement processes on other items discussed earlier in the meeting.
VDOT’s Kevin Smith provided the monthly report, saying storms had caused 25 road closures at one point and seven remained closed; he advised crews are prepared for winter weather. Smith also said the Parsons Lane abandonment request should not landlock parcels.
