Lunenburg County board reelects Alvester Edmonds as chair, adopts 2024 governance schedule

The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors convened its annual reorganizational meeting on Jan. 11, 2024, and elected Alvester L. Edmonds as chairman. The nomination came from Supervisor Mike Hankins and was seconded by Supervisor T. Wayne Hoover; the board approved the election by roll call and Administrator Tracy M. Gee presented Edmonds with the gavel.
Supervisor Mike Hankins then nominated Frank W. Bacon for vice‑chair. The board closed nominations and approved Bacon by roll call. The board also unanimously adopted the 2024 Invocation and Meeting Schedule, the 2024 Holiday Calendar, the Board’s Code of Ethics and Procedures, and Robert’s Rules of Order.
Chief Deputy Circuit Court Clerk Sonya Blackwell administered the oath of office to Supervisors Alvester Edmonds, Greg Currin, Mike Hankins and Edward Pennington at the start of the session. Chairman Edmonds called the regular meeting to order after the reorganizational business; Supervisor Hankins led the Pledge of Allegiance and gave the invocation.
The board recorded no conflicts of interest and received no citizen comments during the opening portion of the meeting. The meeting then proceeded to its regular agenda items.
