Kevin Smith of VDOT told the board the Transportation Committee proposed adding three secondary routes to the plan: Route 647 (serving 12 residents and one church), Route 725 (a dead‑end serving nine residents, with a traffic count of about 70 vehicles per day) and Route 708 (serving 15 residents, also with a traffic count of about 70 per day). Smith said all advertising requirements had been met and there was no public comment during the hearing.
The vote was unanimous to adopt the plan and budget. The action allows the county to move forward with design and construction priorities on the secondary road network as scheduled in the adopted plan.
Officials did not provide a detailed timeline or dollar amounts for the specific work on the three added routes at the meeting; any project scheduling and funding details will follow VDOT’s program cycle and future budget allocations.
