Committee approves collective-bargaining agreements covering nurses, dispatchers and road patrol

Following a closed session to discuss collective bargaining negotiations, the committee approved three tentative collective bargaining agreements and related adoption agreement changes.
The agreements approved were: Michigan Nurses Association (covering Health Department nursing staff and a nurse practitioner) for Jan. 1, 2026–Dec. 31, 2029; Michigan Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council (covering dispatchers) for Jan. 1, 2026–Dec. 31, 2029; and Police Officers Association of Michigan (POAM) (covering Sheriff's Office road patrol) for Jan. 1, 2026–Dec. 31, 2028. The committee moved into closed session under MCL 15.268(c) for negotiations, returning to open session and then approving the agreements by voice vote.
Why it matters: Collective bargaining agreements establish pay, benefits and workplace terms for multiple county employee groups and have multi‑year budgetary implications. The committee also authorized changes to the 457 adoption agreement for Nationwide as negotiated.
Next steps: The approved tentative agreements will be implemented according to their effective dates and the county will carry out required administrative updates for payroll and benefits.
