Committee approves $249,962 clinic renovation bid for county health department

The Chippewa County Finance, Claims and Accounts Committee on Nov. 10 authorized a $249,962.40 contract with JAMA Development to complete Health Department office/clinic renovations (projects A–F), accepting the firm's full‑project local bid as meeting RFQ specifications and falling below budget.
Health Department Health Officer Karen Senkus presented three RFQ responses: one from DG Tile Inc. that did not meet specifications, one flooring‑only bid, and the full bid from JAMA Development. The committee approved the JAMA quote as it allows the department and county to work with a single contractor familiar to both.
The project will be paid from the Public Health Infrastructure Grant and is scheduled to be completed and billed by Sept. 15, 2026. Commissioner Jim Traynor moved to approve the contract, Commissioner Jim Martin seconded, and the motion carried on a voice vote.
The committee also approved reposting a separate door replacement/security RFQ after no bids were received for that narrower scope.
