Committee authorizes FEMA Hazard Mitigation Plan grant pursuit and renews remote-access software for first responders

Chippewa County’s Office of Emergency Services told the Finance Committee that the county needs an updated Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan (HMP) to remain eligible for certain FEMA disaster-assistance programs. Director Postma said the project is budgeted at about $80,538 and the county will seek a FEMA HMP grant covering up to $50,000 with a 25% match (cash or in-kind hours). The committee authorized the chairman’s signature on the SF-424B to pursue the grant.
Separately, the committee approved a one-year renewal with Absolute/NetMotion at $7,200 annually to allow first responders remote access to LEIN and other county servers (service effective June 23, 2025 through June 22, 2026). Both motions passed on voice votes.
