County approves public-defender rate adjustment, Friend of the Court reimbursements and a high-security shredder

The Finance, Claims and Accounts Committee approved several court-administration items during its April 15 meeting, including a retroactive pay-rate correction for public defenders, a fee increase for Title IV-D processing, and a high-security shredder purchase to meet federal disposal requirements.
The committee approved an addendum to legal-services agreements for attorneys who provided representation in felony cases between Oct. 1, 2023, and Sept. 30, 2024, to pay $135 per hour in accordance with MIDC Standard 8 rather than the previously agreed $130. The addendum affects contracts with attorneys named in the minutes and was approved by voice vote.
Friend of the Court Liz Chambers requested and the committee approved a Master Services Agreement increase with MGT Impact Solutions (EGrAMS preparation) raising the per-sheet price from $1.40 to $2.00 effective April 1, 2025. Chambers also requested purchase of a 40334 high-security crosscut shredder to meet U.S. federal particle-size disposal requirements for state and federal tax information; the shredder quote was $1,890 and the committee approved the purchase and associated budget amendment from Fund 215.
