Chippewa County Health Care Trust committee accepts year-end reports and acknowledges transfer to Morgan Stanley

The Chippewa County Board of Commissioners’ Health Care Trust Committee met on Feb. 11, 2025, in Sault Ste. Marie and approved its agenda, accepted prior minutes and filed statutory disclosures related to the county’s OPEB (other post-employment benefits) trust.
Chairman Scott Shackleton called the meeting to order at 5:18 p.m. Commissioner Jim Martin moved to approve the agenda and Commissioner Damon Lieurance supported the motion; the committee approved it by voice vote. No public comments were offered.
The committee reviewed the Nov. 12, 2024 Health Care Trust Committee minutes, received a Compensation Disclosure Form “pursuant to MCL 38.1133(7)” and a Political Contribution Disclosure, and accepted year-end reports showing the balances that were forwarded to Morgan Stanley from MERS for the Chippewa County Health Care Trust. Commissioner Damon Lieurance moved to approve the minutes and accept the disclosures and reports; the motion was supported by Commissioner Traynor and carried on a voice vote.
Committee members acknowledged a tentative quarterly meeting schedule for February, May, August and November. Jessica Fitzgerald asked to join a future meeting by Zoom to introduce herself and thank the board for the transfer to Morgan Stanley; the request was noted for follow-up.
Commissioner Lieurance moved to adjourn, with Commissioner Traynor supporting; the committee adjourned at 5:20 p.m. Kelly J. Church is listed in the record as the meeting recorder.
