Committee recommends county pay $20,413 in generator repairs; temporary generator leased

Administrator Kelly J. Church told the committee that a temporary generator is on lease from Wolverine Power while the county addresses the failed unit. Staff presented immediate repair estimates of $5,493.00 and an additional radiator repair estimate of $14,920.55 planned for the summer.
Commissioners discussed the Generac unit’s life span and asked for additional information about long-term replacement options and whether to issue a request for qualifications (RFQ) this year. Commissioner Scott Shackleton moved and Commissioner Justin Knepper supported a recommendation that Finance Claims and Accounts approve the repair billings; the motion carried on a voice vote.
Next steps include forwarding the recommended repair payments to the Finance Claims and Accounts Committee for formal approval and returning with additional analysis on replacement options if staff recommends seeking competitive proposals.
