Chippewa County backs UP911—hoice of Tyler Technologies for new CAD; multi-year costs approved

The Chippewa County Board of Commissioners authorized proceeding with the UP911 Authority's selection of Tyler Technologies for a new Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and approved the county—ost shares for the project during its Dec. 18, 2025 meeting.
Central Dispatch Director Greg Postma reported the UP911 Authority selected Tyler Technologies after multi-year evaluations by eight Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs). The minutes list Chippewa County's anticipated payments as $150,000 in 2026, $118,000 in 2027, $61,000 in 2028 and $63,000 in 2029. The UP911 Authority is pursuing state appropriations that the minutes say would help offset county costs and improve interoperability because the state plans to use the same CAD platform.
The board approved the recommendation to accept Tyler Technologies' best and final offer and to remain in partnership with the UP911 Authority. Separately, the board accepted a $5,000 award from the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians' 2% distribution to be used for a one-time Mobile CAD license.
