Board approves body cameras, access-control contract and Central Dispatch upgrades

Chippewa County commissioners on Aug. 14 approved a range of public-safety and technology procurements aimed at updating equipment and infrastructure.
The Board approved a five-year purchase agreement from Lenslock, Inc. totaling $154,293 for 22 body cameras, accessories, docking stations, software and a 60-month hardware warranty for the Sheriff’s Office; the Sheriff’s Office also submitted two MMRMA RAP grant requests (hardware and data storage) that could offset $61,114.50 of the cost, leaving roughly $93,178.50 to be paid from Special Fund 232 if grants are awarded.
The Board approved a Convergint, LLC preventative-maintenance contract for Correctional Facility access control at an annual rate of $12,495.71 with an out-of-scope hourly rate of $179.00. Commissioners also authorized Malone Electrical, LLC to install a new UPS system at Central Dispatch for $6,200 and directed contracting U.P. Engineers & Architects for an electrical-room evaluation to produce schematic plans for any required upgrades.
Information Systems was authorized to release three requests for proposals to support backup and migration work: an LTO-9 tape library backup system, Domain/AD/Microsoft 365 & email migration, and Verge.IO system work. The Board approved other facility and equipment purchases during the meeting, including replacement heat pumps and copier machines noted in committee minutes.
Commissioners said the procurements respond to operational needs and software/hardware lifecycle planning; funding sources include Special Fund 232, committee-approved grants, and department budgets. The Board approved the procurements on voice votes.
