The Chippewa County Board of Commissioners on April 17 approved administrative policy changes, several county contracts and equipment purchases and finalized March claims and payroll, while narrowly approving a letter of support for a state resolution on gray wolves.
The board reviewed and approved updated Policy No. 505 on agency devices, adopted new Policy No. 323 on cash and check handling, and revised the county’s Public Statement Rules (removing a prior 15‑minute-per-topic limit). The board voted to authorize a letter of support for House Concurrent Resolution 30 urging federal delisting of the gray wolf so the Michigan Department of Natural Resources may manage the species; the motion passed 4–1 with Chairman Jim Martin recorded as voting no.
Other approvals included purchasing a high‑security shredder for Friend of the Court operations at $1,890 to meet federal disposal specifications; authorizing an increase to the MGT Impact Solutions per‑sheet rate for Title IV‑D Cooperative Reimbursement work from $1.40 to $2.00; approving PetPoint shelter records software and associated vehicle equipment; and approving the March county and Health Department claims and payroll totaling $2,067,280.73.
The board also approved several procurement items recommended by Information Systems, including low bids for desktop computers, Rally Bar purchases and an IBM Power S1014 System, and authorized release of a Central Server RFP. No votes were recorded opposing the financial and procurement approvals highlighted in the minutes.
