Harrison County Community Foundation wins APA award; reports $43.86 million spendable balance

Julie Moorman of the Harrison County Community Foundation told the council on May 12 that the foundation had received an award from the American Planning Association for the Town Planning Initiative, which updated comprehensive plans for all ten incorporated towns in Harrison County.
Derrick Grigsby, the foundation's chief financial officer, presented the quarterly investments update and said the Community Fund produced a quarterly return of approximately 0.02% and had a current spendable amount of $43,856,525.75. Grigsby also reported that the COVID-19 recovery loan program, funded by the County, the Community Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce, has ended and all loans have been repaid.
The update was presented as part of the council's regular agenda and required no council action. The reported spendable balance and the conclusion of the loan program were presented for the council's information; council members did not take further action on foundation affairs during the meeting.
