Alpena County to advertise for new legal counsel after resignation of attorney Denise Burke

County Administrator Jesse Osmer told the Finance Ways & Means Committee on Jan. 14 that Attorney Denise Burke submitted a letter of resignation for legal representation and requested to streamline the 60-day notice period.
Osmer recommended terminating the contract at the end of January, posting a vacancy notice, collecting applications, and—if necessary—holding a Special Personnel Committee meeting to conduct interviews. The recommendation specified that if only one applicant is received, that applicant could appear before the full board for consideration instead of convening a special committee.
Commissioner Brenda Foumier moved and Commissioner Todd Britton supported approving the hiring process for the legal representation vacancy; the motion carried. The committee recorded the action as ACTION ITEM #12.
