Committee to revisit deleted II-07 policy in January; new dispatcher started Oct. 12
Summary

Sheriff Smith told the Alpena County Central Dispatch Committee on Oct. 16, 2025, that Policy II-07 (Calls Received at Law Agency or Secondary PSAP), which had been deleted July 17, 2025, should be re-examined. The minutes state Sheriff Smith, Chief Hamp and F/Lt. Un will meet to discuss the policy and place it on the January agenda with a recommendation for the committee.
Director Kim Elkie informed the committee that the recently hired dispatcher began work Oct. 12, 2025.
The committee recorded the II-07 item as an information item and did not take formal action on it at this meeting. The minutes instruct staff and the identified officials to develop recommendations for the next scheduled meeting after January appointments are finalized.
