Personnel committee approves union contract amendment, payroll change and converts Fairgrounds Manager to county employee

After a closed-session discussion on personnel and contract matters, the Alpena County Personnel Committee returned to open session on Sept. 2 and approved several personnel actions.
Commissioner John Kozlowski moved and Commissioner Todd Britton supported adopting and signing an amendment to the contract with the Corrections Officers Union concerning an in-lieu-of arrangement; roll call vote recorded AYES — Commissioners Todd Britton, John Kozlowski and Brenda Foumier; NAYS — none. The committee recorded this as Action Item #3.
The committee also approved a payroll adjustment for the District Court Administrator to reflect what has been granted for 2026; Commissioner Todd Britton moved the change and Commissioner John Kozlowski supported it. The adjustment is to begin effective the next pay period; roll call vote was unanimous. This was recorded as Action Item #4.
Finally, Commissioners voted to end the Fairgrounds Manager contract and convert the position to a regular county employee; the motion, moved by Commissioner Todd Britton and supported by Commissioner John Kozlowski, carried unanimously and was recorded as Action Item #5.
All votes reported were unanimous among the three committee members. The meeting had gone into closed session at 12:48 p.m. for discussion of personnel and contract matters and returned to open session at 1:02 p.m.
