The Courts & Public Safety Committee approved recommending that the Full Board accept transfer of a Region 7 Healthcare Coalition supply trailer currently stored at the airport.
Emergency Management Director Kim Elkie said many supplies inside the trailer are outdated following deployment during a recent ice storm and suggested the county could discard expired items and convert the trailer to an equipment-focused asset. Nick Harrison of the Northeast Michigan Medical Control Authority told the committee beds inside the trailer would be retained and that the state is willing to transfer title to Alpena County at no storage fee; the county would, however, forfeit a $750 lease fee.
Commissioner Bill LaHaie moved to accept ownership of the trailer, supported by Commissioner Dan Ludlow; the motion carried. The minutes record the committee’s recommendation to accept the transfer and did not record a roll-call tally.
