Chair David Jackson moved the Barry County Board of Commissioners into a closed session under the Open Meetings Act (Public Act 267 of 1976, Section 8c) for strategy and negotiation sessions connected with the negotiation of a collective bargaining agreement. The motion, seconded by Vice Chair David Hatfield, carried on a unanimous roll-call vote with one absence.
"I move to go into closed session in accordance with the Open Meetings Act, Public Act 267 of 1976, 15,268, Section 8c, for strategy and negotiation sessions connected with the negotiation of a collective bargaining agreement," Chair David Jackson said before the board recessed into closed session at 9:21 a.m. The board reconvened in open session at 10:37 a.m. A motion by Hatfield, supported by Commissioner Bruce Campbell, approved the closed-session minutes by voice vote.
The meeting minutes record the board's authority for the closed session and the times of entry and reconvening; the transcript does not record the content of negotiations discussed in the closed session.
