Commissioners review county paving and bridge projects; chip-seal work nearly 70% complete

Berg said boom mowers purchased from Hutson Inc. were delivered and that chip-seal repair projects are nearly 70% complete for base repair work; full chip-seal paving work will start around Memorial Day. He also said dumpster-site paving at Haysville, Holland and Pine Ridge is included in the chip-seal plans and that landowners have approved the work.
Wendholt outlined county paving projects scheduled to be bid May 6, 2024 (projects 24-02, 24-03 and 24-04) and described bridge-crew projects including culvert replacements, an aluminum box culvert installation and replacement of a drive-thru crossing with a small bridge using beams salvaged from another bridge. He also reported a road slide on SR 145 south of Birdseye likely tied to a utility issue, with repairs possibly delayed until fall 2024.
