The Dubois County Council received an update on the newly approved Regional Sewer District and appointed local representatives on March 18, 2024.
Highway Engineer Brent Wendholt reported that the Dubois County Regional Sewer District was formally approved by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management in February 2024 and that treatment options for the north side of Jasper were discussed with the City of Jasper. Wendholt said the engineering firm Clark Dietz will submit the Preliminary Engineering Report to the Indiana State Revolving Fund by April 1, 2024 and will be invited to the May council meeting to provide a project update.
Council members made two appointments to the Regional Sewer District board. Ryan Craig nominated Daryl Schmitt to serve as the council’s representative; Meredith I. Voegerl seconded the nomination and it carried unanimously. Michael W. Kluesner nominated Matt Krempp to serve as the Northeast Dubois School District representative; Sonya Haas seconded and the nomination carried unanimously. The council noted that a representative for the Southwest School District is still being sought.
The actions position the county to move forward with engineering review and SRF submission; Clark Dietz’s PER will be a key next step in defining project scope and costs.
