The Houghton County Board of Commissioners reappointed Commissioner Glenn Anderson to the county Recreation Authority and designated Commissioner Joel Keranen as the alternate for quarterly meetings during the Jan. 30, 2025 special meeting. Commissioner Gretchen Janssen moved the reappointment and Commissioner Joel Keranen seconded; the motion carried by voice vote (Ayes 4, Nays 0).
Chairman Tom Tikkanen and Commissioner Anderson referenced the Recreation Authority bylaws noting that one commissioner is appointed under those rules. The board did not record public comment on this appointment.
The appointment will continue the county's representation on the Recreation Authority for the sitting commissioner with Keranen serving as the named alternate for the authority's quarterly meetings.
