FireKeepers board approves 2024 county services agreement and disburses Tier II funds to township and county offices

At its April 26, 2024 meeting the FireKeepers Local Revenue Sharing Board unanimously approved a 2024 Administrative Services Agreement with Calhoun County, engaged an auditor for up to $5,050, and authorized Tier II disbursements totaling $126,801.35 to Emmett Township, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and Calhoun County Courts.
The FireKeepers Local Revenue Sharing Board voted April 26 to approve a 2024 Administrative Services Agreement with Calhoun County and to authorize Tier II funding disbursements for local public safety and court-related costs.
Board Chairperson Deb Belles called the meeting to order at 10:32 a.m. and the six members present approved the meeting agenda and consent agenda by voice votes before moving to substantive business. Member King moved, Member Fleury seconded and the board approved the administrative services agreement with Calhoun County by unanimous roll-call vote.
The board also voted unanimously to engage Gabridge & Co. to perform the 2023 audit for a fee not to exceed $5,050; the engagement was moved by Member Fleury and seconded by Member Stuck.
In new business the board considered Tier II funding applications for costs tied to the 2023 calendar year. Emmett Township requested $47,853.63 in Tier II support in addition to the previously approved multi-year fire apparatus agreement (year 8 amount of $47,749.98). Chairperson Belles noted this is the final year of the multi-year agreement, and Members Moore and King commented on the frequency of medical calls the township responds to. Member King moved, Member Stuck seconded, and the board approved the Emmett Township request by roll-call vote (Yes 6, No 0).
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office requested $490; Members King and Fleury said the request was lower than in prior years. Member Moore moved, Member Stuck seconded, and the board approved the $490 disbursement by unanimous roll-call vote.
Kelli Scott, Calhoun County Administrator/Controller, explained the Calhoun County Courts’ request for $78,457.72 is related to costs the Courts specifically tracked as being associated with casino incidents. Member King moved and Chairperson Belles seconded the Courts’ funding disbursement; the board approved the $78,457.72 payment by unanimous roll-call vote.
All formal motions recorded were adopted unanimously by the six members present (Rebecca Fleury, Deb Belles, Derek King, Greg Moore, James Schwartz and Jamie Stuck). There was no public comment. The meeting adjourned at 10:40 a.m.; the next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the Board of Commissioners Chambers at the Calhoun County Building in Marshall, Michigan.
