The Grant County Planning & Zoning Board approved a slate of building permits at its Aug. 6, 2025, regular meeting, and set its next session for Sept. 11, 2025.
The board, chaired by Robert Ternes, voted unanimously to approve permits including BLD-2025-023 (a prefab shed for Michael Eggers), BLD-2025-024 (a garage for Robert and Debora Knopik), BLD-2025-025 (a steel shed for William Koepplin), BLD-2025-026 (an above‑ground storm shelter for Keven Burghart), BLD-2025-027 (a wooden shed for Richard Koski) and BLD-2025-028 (an above‑ground storm shelter for Noah and Robyn Gillen). Motions were made and seconded by board members during the meeting and recorded as carrying with all members present in favor.
One application — BLD-2025-021 for Lynda McClung (IIG LLC) — was tabled. Director Jason Albert said the permit is awaiting right‑of‑way approval from the North Dakota Department of Transportation; the board deferred formal action until that NDDOT clearance is provided to county staff.
Permit BLD-2025-022, for Russell Wahl to construct two wooden decks, was approved conditionally: the board required compliance with floodplain construction policies for properties within a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA), Zone A. The condition was noted during the motion discussion and recorded as part of the approval.
The meeting opened at 9:07 a.m. MDT and adjourned at 10:31 a.m. Brendan Becher moved to adjourn; Vernon Straub seconded. The board set its next regular meeting for Sept. 11, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. MDT.
