The Grant County Planning & Zoning Board on April 16, 2025 approved a slate of building permits, extended an existing permit and forwarded a recommendation to the County Commissioners to approve a temporary asphalt plant for the Hwy 49 project.
Robert Ternes, chair, called the meeting to order at 9:34 a.m. MDT. The board — Brenden Becher, Barb Kraft, Vernon Straub, Bob Larson and Matt Hager — unanimously approved the meeting agenda and the March minutes.
P&Z Director Jason Albert updated the board on an earlier action: New Leipzig’s March 27 motion to accept Grid United’s proposed conditional use permit and to continue the permit approval process.
The board approved an extension of permit RR-09122024-A for Noah and Robyn Gillen after discussion of the file by Director Jason Albert. The extension was approved on a motion by Barb Kraft, seconded by Vernon Straub; all members voted in favor.
The board gave tentative approval to a zone change request from Timothy and Judy Tischmak for Parcel #24318100. The board conditioned final action on the required public hearings and presentation to the County Commissioners.
The board introduced and approved several building permits: - BLD-2025-003 (Gary Vasey) for a new garage: motion by Brenden Becher, seconded by Barb Kraft; motion carried. - BLD-2025-004 (Sidney Fitterer) for a new house and garage: motion by Bob Larson, seconded by Matt Hager; motion carried. - BLD-2025-005 (Jared White/T‑Mobile) for a cell tower antenna modification: motion by Barb Kraft, seconded by Matt Hager; motion carried. - BLD-2025-006 (Noah and Robyn Gillen) for an addition to an existing building: motion by Vernon Straub, seconded by Bob Larson; motion carried. - BLD-2025-007 (Ulrich Manufacturing) for an addition to an existing building: motion by Vernon Straub, seconded by Matt Hager; motion carried.
On Special or Conditional Use Permits, the board considered S/CUP-2025-002 for the Hwy 49 Project, a temporary asphalt plant proposed by Central Specialties, Inc. The board voted to recommend approval to the County Commissioners on a motion by Brenden Becher, seconded by Vernon Straub; the motion carried.
The board set its next regular meeting for May 8, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. MDT and adjourned at 11:40 a.m.
