Grant County hears gravel-prospecting presentation and approves several administrative items including a budget amendment and raffle permit

John Sauber of Sauber Engineering met with the Grant County Commission on Jan. 7 to discuss gravel prospecting and alternative procedures for locating and excavating gravel. The minutes record the presentation but do not show any formal action or directive resulting from the discussion at this meeting.
Separately, the commission approved a budget amendment to increase Fund 1000.4121.4999 (District Court) by $1,000 and decrease Fund 1000.4190.4999 (Non-Departmental) by $1,000 to cover court-appointed services. Commissioner Al Roy Hochhalter moved the amendment, Commissioner Marty Meyer seconded, and the roll call vote was unanimous.
The board also approved an application for a local/restricted-event permit for a raffle by the Shields/Selfridge Sportsmen Club to be held June 13, 2026 (motion by Commissioner Meyer, second by Commissioner Hochhalter) and granted a primary residence credit abatement application for Michael and Doreen Knutson for their mobile home and lot for 2025 (motion by Commissioner Hochhalter, second by Commissioner Meyer); the minutes note the Knutsons missed the March 31 application deadline because their mobile home was not assessed for 2025 prior to that date.
All administrative motions recorded in these minutes passed by unanimous roll call; the minutes do not record additional follow-up steps beyond the approvals listed.
