Grant County commissioners approve 2026 appointments, committee assignments

Grant County Commissioners on Dec. 17 approved a slate of county appointments for 2026 and assigned commissioners to regional and local committees.
On motions recorded in the minutes, the board unanimously appointed Jackie Steinmetz as Director of Tax Equalization; Carey Rivinius as County Coroner; Grant L. Walker as County State's Attorney; and Jason Albert to serve as Planning and Zoning Board administrator, Risk Management Director and FEMA Flood Plain Administrator. Jared Fischer was appointed County Emergency Management Director and 911 Coordinator. Denis Tibor and Leonard Gerhardt were appointed to the County Weed Board.
Commissioner Marty Meyer made the primary motions for several appointments with Commissioner Al Roy Hochhalter providing seconds; roll-call votes were recorded as unanimous for each appointment. The board also assigned commissioner representation: Zenker to the Lewis and Clark Region Development committee; Hochhalter to the Local Emergency Preparedness Committee and Planning and Zoning Board; and Meyer to Three Rivers Human Services Zone and the Weed Control Board.
The appointments take effect per county practice for 2026; meeting minutes do not list individual appointment term lengths or compensation details.
