Council approves small appropriations for bridge work, ice-control sand and microfilm

Highway Engineer Jennifer Sharkey submitted a letter revising an earlier request for the Cumulative Bridge Fund: the original $128,000 request was reduced to $8,200 because prior-year encumbrances carried into 2019 offset the larger need. Ruth Beer moved to approve the $8,200 appropriation for Cumulative Bridge consultant services; Dan Caruso seconded and the motion carried 7-0.
Highway Superintendent Emmett Heller requested $20,000 from the MVH fund for ice-control sand. Heller said the county typically mixes sand and salt and does not stockpile excessive amounts through summer; he described using approximately a 3-to-1 sand-to-salt mixture. Jim Getz moved to approve the $20,000 appropriation; Ken Shelton seconded and the motion carried 7-0.
County Clerk Tangi Manahan requested a $5,000 appropriation for microfilm to meet official records-retention needs; Ruth Beer moved to approve, Wil Howard seconded, and the motion carried 7-0. These appropriations were recorded in the minutes with the respective account lines and vote results.
