Council approves $1.74 million IDOC Community Corrections grant renewal application

The Steuben County Council voted unanimously on March 12, 2019 to approve submission of the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) Community Corrections Grant Renewal application for $1,742,606 for the July 1, 2019–June 31, 2020 grant year.
Community Corrections Coordinator Brett Hays told the council the application mirrors the prior year and that the total amount includes $1,558,106 for NICC (of which $883,544 would be received by the state and the remainder covered by user fees) plus $61,500 each for Steuben Probation, LaGrange Probation and LaGrange Drug Court. Ken Shelton moved to approve the application and Linda Hansen seconded. The motion carried 7-0.
Hays said the program structure and funding are unchanged from the prior year. The council’s action authorized staff to submit the application; no additional local matching appropriation was specified in the minutes.
