Grant County sets precincts, polling locations and authorizes countywide vote-by-mail

Grant County Commissioners Alton Zenker (chairman), Al Roy Hochhalter and Marty Meyer voted unanimously on Dec. 3 to establish voting precincts and polling locations and to authorize vote-by-mail across the county.
The board established the following precincts: Rural Grant County, City of Carson, City of New Leipzig, City of Elgin and City of Leith. It designated the Grant County Courthouse and the Elgin Community Center as polling places and as vote centers.
The board also approved countywide vote-by-mail for all approved precincts and set election-day polling hours to open at 7:00 a.m. Mountain time and close at 7:00 p.m. Mountain time. The motions were recorded as made by Commissioners Marty Meyer and Al Roy Hochhalter with roll call votes showing Meyer, Hochhalter and Chairman Alton Zenker voting aye.
County officials noted the board retains authority to change a polling place for good and sufficient reason up to the 64th day before an election. The action is part of routine election administration ahead of upcoming scheduled elections.
The motions were procedural and unanimous; no amendments or objections were recorded. The board's action establishes the administrative framework for local voting logistics through the next election cycle.
