At the April 23 meeting, organizer Terry Woods, representing the Mind Body and Soul Foundation and the Sumter Prevention Team, briefed council on a Men’s Health Expo planned for June 15, 2024 at the Sumter County Civic Center, saying the second Expo will focus on men’s physical and mental health with more than 30 community agencies expected to participate.
Council then unanimously adopted a proclamation, presented by Chairman James T. McCain, Jr., declaring April 2024 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Sumter County. The proclamation cites statewide statistics for fiscal year 2022–2023 and urges partnerships among community organizations to promote child safety and well‑being.
